From acting to hospitality to mom
From the age of 15 until I was 22, I was pursuing becoming a full time actress and was considering doing it for living I, for an instant, gave up on the possibility of getting married and having a family. I used to think that having a happy family and a successful acting career at the same time was simply not possible. When I was 23 I moved away from home and lived at the Riviera Maya. I started working at hotels in the entertainment area. If you’ve ever been to an all inclusive hotel in Mexico, I would have been the one asking you to play volleyball or teach you salsa dancing lessons, or inviting you to a tequila tasting. After 6 months I went to Mexico City; (the place to be if you want to succeed as an actor), to continue with my acting dreams and it was here when I realized It was not really my dream. When I was 23 I moved to this overwhelming city, traffic, people, auditions everyday, everywhere. I was committed 100%, would be present in every single audition my agency sent me to even if it meant to travel hours in a bus or subway.
I always had work, little gigs here and there but I started noticing that everyday I was feeling less confident and insecurities of my image started to get more intense. I am petit, I am 5’1″ and I would be competing for roles with Brazilian models that didn’t look like me… it was the first time in my life that I felt frustrated for being short or not having a model type body. It never ever bothered me before and the feeling of being unhappy with my image was what made me decide it was time to move on.
I went back to my hometown, did some internet tv, a musical play and after 1 year, the hospitality life called me back to the beach life and Riviera Maya was my home once again.
Here I was gaining my confidence back. I did not have to look a certain way in order to be accepted. 2 years after, working at the Fairmont hotel (Mayakoba), I met the man that would become my husband. We worked together for 8 months, dated for 3 weeks and got engaged the day he met my parents. Got married 6 months later and moved to Lake Louise, Alberta, to continue working at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
We lived in Lake Louise for 4 years, had our daughter while living there. And then moved to Airdrie and had our son 2.5 years later.
Since living in Airdrie, I went back to acting, I have the best of both worlds, my priority is my little family but still get to do what I’m passionate about.
We even had the opportunity to work together as a family in a tv commercial.
Life is good, listen and follow your heart, sometimes we want something but life is taking us to another direction and if your gut is pushing you a different way than your mind is, sit back and let that inner voice guide you. You might have the opportunity to go back and have it/do it all.
I believe in angels and I believe that if you ask a question, you will get the answer, you just need to pay attention to the voices of the world.
